How to Make Your Foscam Camera More Secure
May 18, 2016
To most consumers and businesses that use them, Foscam IP cameras are simply the best on the market. They’re easy to install, easy to use, and offer competitive image quality. If you’ve read or heard stories about Foscam cameras being hacked, they may be true. Like all wireless technology, Foscam camera security systems are vulnerable to penetration. By spending a few minutes of your time beefing up your cameras’ security, however, you can reduce to nil the chances that someone you haven’t granted access to your security camera footage will gain it.
Just follow these steps:
1. Set up a password
2. Turn off UPnP. To do this, uncheck the box “Using UPnP to Map Port” under UPnP settings.
3. Make sure your Foscam firmware is up to date.
4. Change your default port to a range of 8100 or greater.
5. Check Foscam camera logs often.
